Can a Magnetic Bracelet Relieve My Back Pain?

Magnetic Bracelets

Magnets have been used for thousands of years to cure all sorts of illnesses. Most generally magnetic therapy has been used for pain relief. Many arthritis sufferers believe that wearing a magnetic bracelets cures their pain or at least reduces the discomfort so they can resume their normal activities. This subject fascinates me. You see I not only write extensively on the subject of back pain, I have also endured the pain of herniated discs and surgery. In my articles I encourage people to look for alternative to traditional drugs and surgery. Because of this I am always searching for alternative non-invasive medicines and ancient treatments and cures.

Most of us probably know someone who wears a copper and or magnetic bracelets. In fact many well known actors and athletes swear by them. Having explored many other types of treatments from meditation to acupuncture to Qigong, it seemed appropriate to investigate the effectiveness of magnetic therapy using magnetic bracelets. First I always approach my research with a healthy amount of skepticism, but also with an open mind. I based on the notion that if a certain medical practice has been used for thousands of years maybe there is some validity to it. After all back pain is nothing new. Humans have been treating back problems from the dawn of time and through all those thousands of years must have found some methods of relieving the pain that worked.

So let us look at the idea that magnets can relieve pain. The concept is really quite simple as anyone knows magnetic have a north and a south pole that generates a magnetic field. Think of the sun, the moon and the earth. Each has a north and south pole and each has a magnetic field or force it is this force that keeps us spinning around the sun and prevents us from falling off the earth. The larger the mass of an object determines the greater the magnetic force or attraction. The theory is magnets with their magnetic field work with a body's own electric field to increase blood flow improving circulation to a painful area, which reduces inflammation and pain.

Great but do magnets work? Well to be honest there is conflicting evidence as to the effectiveness of magnets in reducing pain. However it is interesting to note that the FDA allows manufacturers of magnetic devices to state that these devices relieves pain, improves circulation, promotes relaxation and improves well being. Basically unless you have a pacemaker, wearing a magnetic bracelets is a low risk way of perhaps relieving your pain.

The best source for magnetic bracelets is the internet. Many companies sell these bracelets and other magnetic devices. Of course you can find them on Ebay and any number of merchant sites. There are many styles and prices for these magnetic bracelets, so shop around. I found a man's copper and magnetic bracelets for $12.95 which included free shipping. I ordered it and plan to test it out. I will report on my findings in another article.

Although I think it is interesting to check out various alternatives to modern medicine, I also believe it make sense to combine the best of ancient wisdom with today's best research and practices. With this in mind I highly recommend an exercise program specifically design to treat back problems. Extensive research has proven that exercise is the single most effective way to prevent and cure back problems. One of the best systems is "The Lose The Back System" developed by The Healthy Back Institute. This system has been used by thousands to lose their back pain and live pain free.
